Here's to good health

I find their service good and they charge about 5 per cent to 10 per cent cheaper than other private dental clinics. It’s worth the money.

Taking care of your health should always be a priority. At NTUC Healthcare Co -operative Limited, you get the best value. Healthcare and its subsidiaries including Unity, NTUC Denticare and NTUC Medicare, gave more discounts in 2008 compared to previous years to help families cope with inflation in the first half of the year and the recession later.

From the usual three days in May, Unity extended its 5 per cent storewide discount to NTUC members for the whole month. Customers were able to stock up on medication and medical supplies at lower prices.

NTUC Denticare gave special discounts to NTUC members and these were very well received. About 70 per cent of Denticare customers are NTUC members.

Mrs Shan Juan, who makes her visit once every six months to NTUC Denticare, says she finds the service good and the prices about 5 per cent to 10 per cent lower than the market rate.

NTUC Medicare, also provides health screening packages at affordable rates which are also popular with NTUC members who want to stay fit and healthy to be able to work for as long as they want.

Healthcare continues to focus on training and customer service. In 2008, Unity launched training programmes for pharmacists and pharmacy assistants. Called Unity Development Programme and Pharmacy Development Programme, Unity aims to equip pharmacists and pharmacy assistants with better product knowledge and customer service skills. NTUC Denticare too will be launching its Clinic Development Programme this year for dental assistants.

Competitive pricing

Healthcare was established in 1992 when there was a worry about rising cost of healthcare. It operates 35 Unity pharmacies, nine The Living Pharmacy outlets, 13 dental surgeries and six medical clinics.

NTUC Denticare and NTUC Medicare, under NTUC Healthcare, offer fees for dental and medical services at lower than the guidelines set by the Singapore Dental Association.
