INTRODUCTION
The Certificate in Sales and Marketing (CSM) is a specialised marketing qualification specially designed for those who are in the sales and marketing field and who wish to upgrade their knowledge and skills for further career advancement. It is also ideal for those without formal marketing training but who wish to pursue a career in sales and marketing.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE
The objective of the CSM programme is to give students a firm understanding of the principles and techniques of the sales and marketing functions.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE & CURRICULUM
This is a 6 months part-time programme. The details are as follows:

This programme involves lectures, group discussions, case studies and presentations by students. Classes are usually held two to three times a week from 7.00pm to 10.00pm on weekdays or 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm on Saturdays with a total of 30 contact hours per module. Weekly lectures are conducted by qualified and experienced local lecturers approved by MIS.

EXAMINATIONS & ASSESSMENT
All students are required to sit for a written examination for all modules at the end of each semester. Students must fulfil the attendance requirement of at least 75% for each module before they are considered eligible to take the end-of-semester examinations.

The candidate will be allowed to sit for the supplementary examination(s) for the module(s) that they have failed in the main examination. However, a supplementary examination fee of S$52.50 (inclusive of 5% GST) per module is applicable.

To repeat a failed module, a student must attend classes and pay a course fee of S$403.20 (inclusive of 5% GST) per module before he/she are considered eligible to take the examinations.

There is no limit to the number of times a student may re-sit any module. However, a student must complete the CSM course within three years of registration, which is from the commencement of the first semester.

All examination questions and the marking of scripts will be moderated and/or examined by the MIS Board of Studies before they are released to students. The decision of the Board is final and no correspondence will be entertained.

AWARD OF CERTIFICATE
Students who have completed all necessary course works, successfully passed all required modules and met all financial obligations to the MIS shall be awarded the Certificate in Sales and Marketing.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
All applicants must possess:

  • 3 GCE 'O' Level credits
  • 5 GCE 'N' Level credits
  • Certificate in Office Skills (COS)
  • NTC 2 with at least 3 GCE 'N' Level or 2 GCE 'O' Level credits

Those who do not have the above qualifications but have years of working experience are also invited to apply. Mature applicants of minimum 19 years old will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The MIS Board of Studies reserves the right to change the above requirements and selection at their sole discretion.

The course fees cover course materials and tuition by local tutors and DOES NOT include textbooks and other miscellaneous charges, if any.

MIS MEMBERSHIP
The Marketing Institute of Singapore is a professional body for sales and marketing practitioners. All successful applicants must be individual members of the Institute. The following discounted membership charges apply:

  • Entrance fee of S$52.50 (inclusive of 5% GST)
  • Subscription fee of S$52.50 per year (inclusive of 5% GST)

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT FUND (SDF)
The CSM programme is supported by the Skill Development Fund under the Pre-approved scheme. Students on company sponsorship will be eligible for a subsidy of 80% of the course fees. Log on to Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) at http://app.wda.gov.sg for more information.

NTUC SURROGATE EMPLOYER PROGRAMME (NTUC-SEP)

CDAC SKILLS TRAINING AWARD SCHEME
The CSM Programme is under the Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC) Skills Training Award Scheme. It sponsors a portion of the training fees of the course. Log on to www.cdac.org.sg for more information.

WITHDRAWAL, DEFERMENT & REFUND POLICY
The refunds specified here are for circumstances in which a student withdraws from a course completely, withdraws to transfer to another course within MIS, or to another school. For Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents, please refer to the Local Refund Policy.

Diploma in Sales and Marketing
(Part-Time)

INTRODUCTION
This Diploma in Sales and Marketing (DSM) is a professional marketing programme specially designed for those who wish to upgrade their knowledge and skills in sales and marketing, and to further their career. Hence, it is widely recognised in Singapore as the professional sales or marketing manager's passport to a career in sales or marketing for over 20 years.

It is MIS's flagship programme and regarded as the leading programme of its class in Singapore.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
The DSM programme aims to provide students with a managerial orientation towards sales and marketing. It covers all relevant topics that informed sales and marketing professional needs to know, as well as providing insights to issues faced in strategic, tactical and administrative marketing.

  • Higher National ITE Certificate (Higher NITEC)/ITC
  • LCCI Diploma in Marketing (Level 3) with 3 GCE 'O' level credits and minimum 2 years of working experience

Those who do not have the above qualifications but have years of working experience are also invited to apply. Mature applicants of minimum 21 years old will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES
An applicant must complete the prescribed DSM application form and return it together with the following documents:

  1. CERTIFIED TRUE COPIES of educational certificates/degrees/diplomas Certification may be made by your company or at MIS, in which case, the originals must be presented for verification.
  2. Two passport-sized photographs.
  3. A crossed cheque of S$31.50 (inclusive of 5% GST) for the application processing fee (non-refundable) made payable to "MIS Training Centre".
